József Balázs Fejes

József has been focusing on learning motivation and reading comprehension for a long time. He has extensive experience in realizing as well as assessing the impacts of intervention programs that target motivation and reading comprehension together (Fejes, 2012a; Kiss et al., 2015).
In addition, he has carried out several online assessments in the field (Fejes & Vígh, 2019), examined the motivation and reading comprehension performance of Hungarian students from an international perspective (e.g., Csapó et al., 2019; Józsa & Fejes, 2012), and looked at the relationship of learning motivation and skills development (e.g., Fejes, 2012b).
He has also participated in secondary analyses of large-sample, longitudinal data on reading performance (Tóth et al., 2016). Within the framework of the Motivation Educational Association, an NGO of which he is President, József has developed a 30-hour intensive training for in-service teachers to equip them to boost the reading comprehension and reading habits of Hungarian students.
Furthermore, he has several courses for in-service and pre-service teachers at the University of Szeged which focus on how to enhance reading comprehension and learning motivation in the classroom.
